Midwife-led Birth is Safest

Yet another research study confirms what midwives and mamas have known forever: midwives offer optimal care for pregnant and birthing women.

The Cochrane Review has published a new study on Midwife-led versus other models of care for childbearing women. The study showed numerous benefits, more positive outcomes, and less interventions and complications with midwifery care.

The authors concluded that: "All women should be offered midwife-led models of care and women should be encouraged to ask for this option."

Midwives Save Babies in D.C.

Washington D.C. midwife Ruth Lubic is saving lives in her busy birth center in one of the poorest neighborhoods of the US capitol. In this area, the infant mortality rate is double the US average, but in eight years of midwifery care for over 800 families, Lubic and the midwives have lost zero babies, and have halved the rate of premature births.
