Traditional Mexican Midwifery: Angelina
Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at 03:08PM Angelina is a Partera, a Midwife, who practices traditional homebirth midwifery in Mexico. I had the honor of attending Angelina's workshops at a Midwifery Today conference in 2005 and was profoundly inspired by her gift for midwifery. She is a warm and loving spirit with a wealth of information regarding midwifery, fertility, women's health, and natural healing remedies including herbs, massage, rebozo, moxibustion, cupping, nutrition, and more.
A three-part documentary of Angelina practicing midwifery and working with her clients through fertility, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum is available to watch for free online. I highly recommend this video as it shows you a rare glimpse into a highly skilled midwives practice and demonstrations of many traditional techniques that have been passed along by parteras for centuries.
